Globally-experienced and award-winning Chief Financial Officer, Corporate Treasurer, Head of Corporate Development, and Chief Investment Officer of Top 10 Largest Corporate Pension Plan. Mark has executed over $50 bn in capital markets transactions including preparing four IPOs, multiple convertibles equity raises, investment and high-yield bonds as well as bond and share buybacks, and complex recapitalizations. He has executed over $50 bn in merger, acquisition, divestitures and joint ventures across multiple continents including merger of Alcatel-Lucent and sale of Arysta LifeScience to UPL. Mark managed over $45 bn in pension and benefit assets. He has over 20 years of experience with public and private Board of Directors as well as equity and bondholder investor and rating agencies relations. He lived in France for 4 ½ years as Head of Corporate Finance & Global Chief Investment Officer for Alcatel-Lucent. He has managed up to 800 people in teams while working in organizations as small as start-ups (25th employee); 3,300 (CFO/CHRO of Arysta); 4,500 (CFO of Affinion), 80,000 (Head of Corporate Finance & CIO at Alcatel-Lucent) and 800,000 (Director of Domestic Finance and Business Development at General Motor’s Treasurer’s Office).
Mark and his teams have won numerous awards including the Gold medal for Overall Excellence Award in Treasury Today and Best in Treasury Technology by Treasury Management International in 2009. His teams received the Alexander Hamilton Gold Medal in Retiree Plan Management in 2006 and the Silver Medal Award from Treasury & Risk Management for Credit Risk Management in 2005. Finally, they received the Overall Excellence Award from Treasury & Risk Management in Treasury Management while simultaneous being awarded the Gold Medals for Financial Risk Management and Cash Management in 2004.
Mark has received personal recognition: He was honored by Boy Scouts of America for Distinguished Citizen Award – June 2012 Recognized as one of the “Top 100 Most Influential People in Finance” by Treasury & Risk Management magazine in 2005 and 2006 and “Top 40 Finance Executives Under 40” in 2002 and 2003 before he moved to Paris, France from 2007-2012. He received Chairman’s award at General Motors for the Delphi Automotive Spin-off in 1999.
Mark graduated from Carleton College and then received his MBA from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business (aka Chicago Booth) where he was a LEAD Facilitator and a Chicago Booth and General Motors Fellow.
